Exit Advanced Workshops provide
Exit members with the opportunity to teach themselves to create their own EOL options. Advanced Workshops are hands-on events, organised by the participants themselves (Dr Philip Nitschke does not attend). These workshops are truly collective undertakings.
In the past, Exit's Advanced Workshops have seen Exit members create their own carbon monoxide devices. A barbiturate-based Peaceful Pill is in progress.
The political rationale behind these workshops is one of civil disobedience. Not only is it problematic for authorities to prosecute people in their 80s and 90s or people who are seriously ill (and whose life expectancy is very short), but it is politically untenable for authorities to prosceute a group of thirty, 80 year olds for taking matters into their own hands.
Exit members use their elderly age and their health status as protections from legal persecution. To attend an Advanced Workshops, one must be a member of Exit and have previously attended an Exit Information Workshop. |
